Do you think DCU will be successful? I hope it can be huge for DC
Hmm. I think there will be a lot of buzz and praise for ‘DC Universe’ when it first launches, enticing people to subscribe, and it will do pretty well. However, there is a limited amount of DC content and after a couple of months making your way through the library, once the nostalgia of watching old movies and shows wears off, I think there could be a big drop off. Maintaining subscribers after the first few months will be what determines whether it is a success, and that will rely solely on new content, and so far there are only 5 new shows announced. That’s not enough to keep people subscribing month after month in my honest opinion, they will need to massively increase the output of new content, but we’ll see. I’m excited for it!
‘THE BATMAN’ MOVIE WILL FOCUS ON YOUNGER VERSION OF THE CHARACTER!
Matt Reeves has finally turned in a script for the upcoming solo Batman movie. The script reportedly focuses on a younger version of Batman, meaning that Ben Affleck is most likely not returning for the role!
JOKER ORIGIN MOVIE WILL START FILMING IN THE FALL!
The upcoming ‘Joker Origin’ movie is confirmed to start filming later this year and will be set in the 1980′s. The movie will be produced by Martin Scorsese, star Joaquin Phoenix in the lead role, and have a relatively small budget of $50million. The movie is not considered to be part of the DCEU!
lewis tan posted a picture of him at a dc hq holding batman comics with a vague caption about his father being in a Batman movie or something like that, anyway what are your thoughts? do you think he’s being considered for a role?
Seems to be! It’s possible he’s playing the lead in the ‘Nightwing’ movie, or has a role in another DCEU movie, but I heard it may actually be something to do with the DC Universe shows. Guess we’ll have to wait and see!
What do you think of Avengers Infinity War when it passed 2 billion dollars? Can a future DC movie make that?
Marvel just keeps getting bigger and bigger and with that the goalpost to compete keeps moving and getting harder and harder to reach. I’m not sure DC will ever have a $2billion movie to be honest, at least not as part of the current DCEU, there’s too much baggage and brand damage from the previous DCEU movies. A DCEU movie even hitting $1billion seems out of reach for a while. I don’t see the next few DC movies joining that club. I’d say the Joker Origin movie with Martin Scorsese and Joaquin Phoenix has the best shot at joining the $1billion club, or maybe Matt Reeves Batman, but they’re both still a long way away. We’ll see.
A new TV show about Batman’s butler Alfred has been announced by DC. The show will be titled ‘Pennyworth’ and will air on cable network Epix. ‘Gotham’ showrunner, Bruno Heller, will also be the showrunner on this show, though the two shows will not be connected. The show has a straight-to-series order and will consist of 10 episodes!
SD Comic Con in July for sure! Now that Marvel have confirmed they’re not going to Comic Con, DC will have all the attention on them, so they’ll save the ‘Aquaman’ trailer for then to make the biggest splash. Then we should get the first look at ‘Shazam’. Maybe footage or maybe just concept art or a poster, and also casts appearances from both movies. We might get some new info from Flashpoint, The Batman, or Wonder Woman 2 but I’m not counting on it. Then finally, DC should really use this time to officially confirm release dates for their next 5 or so movies because right now nobody really knows when all these movies are happening, it’s a bit of a mess.
